Christopher J. Christie: Governor of New Jersey with a Named Star

Christopher James Christie is a politician, former prosecutor, and businessman who served as the 55th governor of New Jersey from 2010 to 2018. Born on September 6, 1962, in Newark, New Jersey, Christie graduated from the University of Delaware and earned his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. Before entering politics, Christie worked as a lawyer in private practice and served as a Morris County Freeholder, which is a county-level government position in New Jersey. In 2001, he was appointed as the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, where he gained a reputation for prosecuting public corruption cases and fighting terrorism.  Christie’s political career took off when he ran for governor of New Jersey in 2009, running on a platform of fiscal conservatism and reforming the state’s public sector. He won the election and was re-elected in 2013. During his time as governor, Christie made headlines for his handling of Hurricane Sandy and his controversial decision to work with Democrats on expanding Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
